A few weeks ago, a huge department store in KLCC contacted Love to Dress and wanted to discuss about stocking us (super low consignment rate and no rental, mind you). The me 1 year ago would have cried buckets, jump up and down and gave an unwarranted and award winning speech to my victims i.e. Chia (husband/ investor), Mimak (sister/ creative director) and Naida (best-friend/ head of marketing & sales).
But would you believe it? After discussing it with my team, we decided to forego the offer and focus on what we plan to achieve for 2016. We are a company focused on you, the 25 - 35 urban muslim women who want us to sort out your clothing problems in the most efficient way. We still have a long way to go, so that's why we need to stay focused.
In life, we are filled with abundant choices and it really helps when we are clear on what we want. Being clear and focused also makes it harder to be swayed by other paths that are sometimes wrapped beautifully by offers that would leave us gagging. I have to constantly remind myself, it's not about building the biggest, most profitable nor most famous company. It's about ensuring that Love to Dress is profitable and sustainable in the long run. Business is not a sprint, but a marathon. So lead a balanced life like the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and stay focused, Sumayyah!
